The Australian Society for Fish Biology (ASFB) is the peak body for fish and fisheries scientists and managers in Australasia, with over 400 members from across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific nations.
The core objectives of the ASFB are to promote research, education and management of fish and fisheries in our region, and provide an effective forum for the exchange of information among our members, which includes the training and mentorship of students and early career members via targeted workshops, awards, travel support and research grants.
Our annual conferences are a highlight of the ASFB calendar, being held in locations around Australia and New Zealand, and often in conjunction with sister societies to foster inter-disciplinary conversations and collaborations. We cater to a broad range of researchers and managers in fish and fisheries through a diversity of conference themes, workshops and committees (e.g. Threatened Fishes, Alien Fishes, Fisheries Management, Education), and strive to support and recognise the unique and lasting contribution of Indigenous people to the understanding and management of our fish and fisheries.
